John Tolly

I’ve known John Tolly and his family for many years, through rugby and our kids. I first designed a website for John maybe 10 years ago and we’ve been meaning to do this ‘refresh’ for maybe the past three!

First things first, – John Tolly is a fantastic builder and he has completed many great projects. From simple extensions, to complex Barn Conversions and complete builds. When I built the initial website, it was a bit short on content but we got it up there and he could at least send people there to find out more and find his up to date contact details. In the years that followed, I built a couple of websites for house builders, focussing on the work they wanted to attract and I saw this as a good approach. I start nagging John to do the same and at last, we got there.

Since I started to do some work with a new Graphic Designer, Guy Rayment – I got introduced to the DIVI WordPress theme as it was something he used for his front-end work. Mindful that I had got in to a bit of a habit of using the Avada theme, I was worried that my sites might start to look a little stale or uniform in their layout – so I set about getting to know DIVI. I first used it on the Consaelting website and I have a few others soon to be released, so I thought I’d jump in and use it on this Project.

We kept the branding unchanged and I pulled out the yellow as a primary colour to use throughout the design, with a darker yellow as an accent here and there. I knew I wanted the site to be simple to navigate, bold and beautiful, but there was an issue. The images. Builders love to take photos of their work, but they’re always of holes and pipes, always of low quality and always strewn with tools and debris. This wouldn’t do.

Having recently started work on another refresh with a long standing client, Michael Blake at Bespoke Installations Ltd – I remembered that he had not only employed the services of a professional photographer but that he had highly recommended her services. So I gave Aisling Magill a call and the rest, as they say, is history. Aisling went to several of John’s ‘completed’ builds and photographed them whilst I contacted several of his clients for testimonials.

I really like this build and I enjoyed working with DIVI. The fonts and layout are bold and the professional photography was worth every penny, it really does make a difference.
